Christmas Tour of Homes 2011 Part 1

cWelcome to the Annual  Christmas Tour of our home! This is the 3rd Christmas Tour I have done here and blogland and it is always fun to see the changes that are made from year to year!
WARNING-
my house is a hodgepodge of decor- I have vintage, victorian, elegant Silver and Gold,
Shabby Chic Pinks, Reds, burgandy.  Hopefully you will find something you like!

We changed the living room around to accommodate several large Christmas dinners we are hosting so the living room looks very different then previous years.  I will be setting up several tables in the living room for a sit down dinner so  it is very open with all the furniture against the walls.

The front guest room would be the next room on the tour.  Last year I had that door closed if you remember as it was in shambles, ready for a makeover.
Well this year it is open for the tour and is where all the coats and mittens will go for the many guest that will be coming through our doors this season.
This mirror and mantel will getting some nice white paint after the holidays.
Just not enough time to get it all done it seems.
I do love the reflection of the bed and sconces in this picture-
I almost didn't use this little tree as it was yellowed and shabby.
I gave it a bath in clorax water which helped some then by the time I got it all decorate
it looked nothing like the ugly duckling it was before!
Pretty pearl strands, silver and white ornaments were used for this little tree.
If you would like to see more of the blue room you may want to jump to this post after you finish.

Well now on to the dining room -
This room sees lots of action during the holidays with my love for entertaining.
I wanted a very natural Christmas look for this room this year and used lots of fresh
cut greenery (we have junipers, cedar, and pinon trees in our yard to choose from!)
I used all natural elements here for decorating. I had dried lemon slices earlier in the year and hung them in front of bulbs on the trees. Lots of pinecones that are free for the taking, bird's nests that have been collected over the years, dried flowers, and miscellaneous birds and pretty paper decoraction were used to spruce up another sad looking artificial tree.

Up on top of the China closet is some of my many pedestal cake plates laden with more boughs and cones.
The little deer was given to me by a friend on my 16th birthday years ago (nope not telling how many )
Another little vignette on top of the opposite china cabinet.
Isn't that the cutest little wire tree.
It was actually the base of a tree topper.  I wanted to use the angel for something then a tree top and when I took this thing off it looked like the a perfect little wire tree decoration!
This sweet little silver lamp was picked up at a yard sale last month when I took my mom back to Albuquerque.  It was brand new and only $3.00!
One of my many bird cages filled with greenery and lights
As we head out of the dining room the next stop is the study.
Another birdcage filled with lights and white greenery is on the other side of the chair in corner
My sister gave me the sweet victorian house several years ago as she knew I always
wanted a victorian home so she got me one!
Sweets for the sweets!
My beautiful stocking I won from Rebecca several years ago
The mirror had been looking very naked till I took this frame and
placed it over the mirror- makes the mirror look so pretty now!
Reflection shows the white and pink tree at the opposite side of the room.bb

Ornaments on the tree
We spend most of our summer days in this room

I covered the chair with a vintage chenille spread.
The ottoman was covered with a square tablecloth and  tide with large pink rick rack for a quick cover up.
A little putz house vignette
Oh I am hoping this tour isn't boring you -
I would love to show you one more room before we take a tea break-
The room off the study is the other downstairs guest room-
The fainting couch is cozied up with a soft pink shawl.
I made the pillow cover by simply wrapping a pretty runner around a pillow and safety pinning it then covering the pin with a ribbon. That darling little angel teddy bear was given to me when I was in the hospital for a rattlesnake bite 2 years ago.
My feather tree has birds nesting in it.
Well we are not quite 1/2 through the tour-

I had to laugh--- where do you give a Christmas tree a clorox bath??? Only you with your unbounded energy would think to do that! Love Part 1 - can't wait to see the rest. It's all wonderful, of course. Wish we were headed south on I-25 - I'd love to stop to see it in person. Why are we so busy -- we haven't gotten together for a long time? Enjoy your preparations this next couple of weeks for the BIG real celebration - the birth of Christ. Take care, Sally

Wow, love all your trees and your home looks amazing. At first I thought the large tree with all the lights in your living room was my favourite, then I saw the more rustic one with the pinecones. So many pretty things to admire.

Thanks so much for stopping by our home tour and for your kind comment. Merry Christmas!
