Button up your Pumpkins!

Sweater Pumkins in Retreat by Kennedy Design booth

I am joining Chari's Sunday Favorites this week."Sunday Favorites" is a Sunday meme designed to give bloggers a chance to share a favorite post from the past!

This post was posted October 15, 2008

With all the fall decorating going on I thought It would be a great idea to reintroduce these Sweater Pumpkins!

BRRR!! It's Chilly! Sweater Pumpkins

Deb at Hummadeedledee (is that not the cutest name for a blog- why can't I think of such original names- probably caz I'm doing so much meandering!!) made these cute little pumpkins - ARE THEY NOT JUST THE SWEETEST THINGS YOU HAVE SEEN!!??

She has a great tutorial on how to make them on her site. I am so wanting to make me some of these and thought my thrifty and crafty (in a good way crafty!) buddies would like this idea too. Would love to see yours when you fashion a few! Pumpkin Inspiration & Tutorial

This is a great way to recycle an old holey sweater. I recently discovered moths have been having a feast with my mohair and wool sweaters! We never worried about moths in New Mexico so didn't think about storing them differently to protect them!

Good thing almost all my clothes come from thrifting- I won't feel so bad about cutting them up for these cute decorations and maybe will have a few to share with friends!

The question is -what do you think about a hot pink pumpkins??
Here's another picture of these cuties~

I see a lot of craft ideas around but I have never seen this or any variation on this.
They are really interesting. The color is just like the ghost pumpkins.

Hello Dearheart...

My friend, I'm so sorry that I've been so long in getting over for a visit...please forgive me! I have really enjoyed all of your sweet notes and kept thinking to get over...I've been so busy!

Ohhh...I remember this post about these darling little sweater pumpkins! I copied all the photos and info to my computer so that I could make some! Sheeshh...never did get to that project! I'm soooo slow, girlfriend! They are so pretty and precious though...they would be beautiful in any home decor but couldn't you just see these in a pretty "all-white" shabby chic room? This is a great post...thank you so much for joining in with Sunday Favorites today!!!

Well...I read your note about starting a ministry in your local area! Girl, I will definitely be praying for you and Bill...and for the Lord's leading in this! I've experienced this type of work...it's so exciting!!! Alot of work but soooo worth it!!! I don't know if I should tell you...hehe!...but we started a similar work...started as a home Bible study and grew so much that we had to knock a wall out between the living room and dining room to fit everyone in! Next thing we knew...we were building a church that the Lord so graciously gave us the property for! That little Bible study of just a handful of people grew into a little country church of about 150! You never know!!! Anyway, I will be praying for ya'll, my friend!!! Keep me posted...would love to hear how it's all coming along!

Love ya,
Chari

Mary, thank you so much for letting me know about your post... with all of the garbage I am dealing with right now over theft of my blog content, your proactive honesty is very reaffirming!

I DO remember you asking for permission to post this last year, and you are most welcome to do so this year. Thank you for including a link to my site to the original post - clearly you have manners! ;0)

May I ask one favor? In the opening paragraph, you say 'in her Hummadeedledee booth' - actually, our business name is Retreat by Kennedy Design and that is the name that we do shows under - would you change that first paragraph so it isn't confusing to anyone? Thank you! Our blog is http://retreatdesign.blogspot.com and you can link to that one.

I hope everyone has fun making my sweet sweater pumpkins... I am currently making LOTS of them (and some from BURLAP!) for a show in October.
