What are your favorite Decorating reads? and More fun giveaways

Well it's more time sitting on my bum! The Dr has ordered total elevation of foot that was biten by the rattlesnake till the 17th when I go back for a visit. I also developed a rash yesterday due to the 5th or 6th different antibiotic - Keep getting allergic reactions!

Oh well enough of that what I want to enlist your help is for some reading for this time. There have been so many great book reviews on decorating and such and of course I never wrote them down! The state of Co has a great lending library program so I thought if I could come up with some great decorating idea books I might be able to read a few during my bum time! Do you have a favorite?

And now for some great giveaways through out blogland!

Mary-- So sorry to hear about the rash - I hope they find something soon that you don't react to. I'm sure you have to have some kind of antibiotic. Keep us posted! I love my decorating books - I read them and reread them. Probably my favorites are the Nell Hill's books: "Feather your Nest", "Christmas at Home", "Entertaining in Style", "Decorating Secrets", and "Style at Home". The author of all of them is Mary Carol Garrity. So glad you are home now. Let me know if I can do anything from this distance. At least now I can comment on your posts. Take care, Sally

I so hope your antibiotics work for you. I know how frustrating it can be to go on one just to be pulled and put on another. Blessings to you as you heal.

Oh Mary! I had no idea you were going thru this! The last week I wasn't very faithful to blogging but I did try to check every once in awhile to see what my favs were up to. I never saw your posts! I don't know what to say but Thank You Lord! Here I was just thinking you must be finishing up your breakfast room! (LOL!) Do you think the Lord's trying to slow you down a bit? You better take good care of yourself! My prayers are with you and your family! I can't help but think about what they were going thru too! Mary, I know this is a different kind of friendship within this techno world of blogging but I really think of you as a good friend and don't want anything to happen to you! Pls. take care! Have you read the Mitford Series? I know it's old but they are such good books. Worth a reread! God Bless you! (He definitely has!) Lauralu :)

Good Mornin' Dearheart...

Just wanted to stop by and check on you to see how you were doing today! Ohhh no...so sorry to hear that you have to keep that foot up for sooo long, I know it's not easy to just sit when there is so much that you would like to do...but like you said, you might as well utilize this time and catch up on some reading, blogs, etc. Do you do any kind of needlework, embroidery, etc? That could keep you good company as well.

Girl, I just love decorating books and I guess my favorite are about French Country, Shabby Chic design. One book that I would love to get is written by interior designer Bunny Williams...it's called "An Affair With A House". It's the story of her home rennovation. I thought of this book since you have been so busy with rennovating your home! I have always heard glowing reviews about this book!

Thanks so much for sharing those great gift giveaways...I'll have to go and check them out! Well Darlin'...I'm praying that your Dr. will find the right antibiotic for you...one that you won't have an allergic reaction to...in Jesus' name!!! I'll check in with you later, Sweetie!

Love and prayers sent your way...
Chari

GO MARY!!! You just can't keep a decorating woman down!!! I am just so happy to see on the bloggy again!! I don't have any favorites, but I do keep ALL of my decorating magazines and when I need a good read I go back to them. I have Country Living back to 1983!! I love going back in time and seeing just how much things haven't really changed!! Of they do become a little more refined. I have spent many hours going through those mags.

Keep that foot up along with your spirits!! Love and prayers, Mary Ann

What is that scripture about being still? You are so right! We show God's love to others just by "being" His. God Bless! Lauralu :)

Mary, I am so glad you are in the "mood" to be productive & read. Now that is a blessing to here that you want to find something to read. I don't have time to read but when I do I read the magazine "Real Simple" it gives you such good ideas on decorating as well as food. The scripture that came to me is "Be Still & Know that I am God" It is so hard to do and so easy to say...blessings dear one,

Sharon

oh little mary,

what you've been through. i love that your mind is just racing with plans even though you are staying put. sounds like you will use your down-time to plan and plot so that when you are able, you'll be raring to go!

here's a book i love: country color combinations by kate butcher. the photos are just lovely. i also like cottage style by country living. and of course, stacks o' magazines!

take it easy and enjoy being waited-on a bit.

Mary, I am so sorry you are having allergic reactions. It's not enough to have a snake-bitten foot, you have to have reactions to the medications! Are you feeling a little like Job? Bless you-I'm praying. laurie

Hi Mary, So glad you are home and actually feeling like doing a blog post. Still praying for you. Take care of yourself!

My all-time favorite decorating books have already been mentioned - all of the books by Mary Carol Garrity. Your look is what she does. And if you have not read Jan Karon's books - the Mitford series - (someone also mentioned them) I think you would like them. Great Christian fiction. Actually I am pretty picky about the Christian fiction I read. Her books are really wonderful.

And sometimes I just browse my library's decorating section online and put a hold on a stack of books. Then your hubby could just go pick them up!

Take care.
