I did get some Christmas decorating done today though not near enough. My livingroom is looking nice though the Christmas tree in there is not up yet as we alway cut a tree down for this room. These are a few vignettes I did today- I really should show you the vignettes in the rest of the house- a complete mess!!!!!! Is anyone else like me when it comes to decorating- I seem to make a huge mess in the rest of the house while trying to get 1 room looking nice!!
Cindy ~ My Romantic Home came to my rescue concerning enlarging the pictures- here is what she told me- "If you move your pictures once you have uploaded them onto blogger then you lose the ability to click on them to enlarge them. I upload my photos in the order I want them first and then type the text. " So I uploaded in order and typed text so you will hopefully be able to click on any picture to enlarge it if you desire!

This little vignette is behind my sofa- I have a sofa table in NM but am using my old sewing machine as a make-shift one for here for now. DH gave me the sweet lamp for Christmas 1 year.

The mirror it sits on is a yard sale find at $2.00- It has a beautiful rose handle (1 is missing- alas the $2!) The Victorian lady in frame was also $2.

The handblown bird ornament to the right was one that DH gave me- he gets me a beautiful ornament every year. The tree topper to the left of picture is a Goodwill find at $1

The silver box that olds the old watches was one that my Daddy had. The old keys came from Bill's dad.

Millicent (my 92 year old friend) gave us the old watches- the one to the left is actually the back of a watch- it is so pretty with all it's filigree. Millicent would have all these little presents in purple (that is her favorite color) bags. Each guest would pick one. You never knew what crazy or wonderful gift you would get but it was always so much fun!

This is the Secretary/bookcase that was in my Daddy's house. I will try and get a picture of it during the day- There was too much glare from the flash. The top drawer folds down for a little desk.

The picture furthest left is of DH when a little boy. To the right is a picture of my dad when he was a baby and if you look at picture above the picture to the right is of Bill's dad when he was about 16 working at a gas station.
I hope you enjoy my little try at bringing some Christmas to my home!

Mary, so glad you found me, so I could come find you! I remember your lovely postings on RMS. These vignettes you've posted are beautiful. I love the way you put the watches in the box. It really looks like several vignettes in one. I can't wait to see more pictures of your dad's secretary. It looks gorgeous!
I also got the info about the clickable photos on Rhoda's. I had been asking why my pictures wouldn't enlarge and nobody could tell me. It's going to be hard for me to get used to not be able to move them around.
This blogland is getting so big, I think it's amazing when anybody happens on a blog of someone they "know". So glad we've finally found each other. I'm definitely adding you to my blog list. laurie
Mary,
I love that vinette at the top.
Don't you just love family treasures, and the treasures you find at thrift stores?
What a great combination.
Thank you for sharing.
Now, I need to read on and see what Tootsie is referring to about the therapy. Glad it is something that is helping others. I beleive what we go through in life is to help us grow, and to help others too.
Blessings,
Barbara Jean
Hi Mary Ellen, It's so classic and beautiful. Love the keys. What a beautiful touch of elegance. The angel lamp is so serene.
That is the neatest thing your MIL has the same dishes. I wonder if they married around the same time frame. 1961 for mine.
I'm really going to try to not always buy new. I'll be moving to the right part of the country for shopping for it.
Have a wonderful day. Thanks for coming by tonight. ~Melissa :)

Masterful dear friend! I saw your new header and my heart skipped a beat! It's sooo lovely! Boy I sure am seeing a lot of "lovely" in the blogging world...it's enough to give me a complex, tuck tail between my legs and RUN!! *winks* And hey girl,I didn't want you to think I forgot about your mantle. I searched the web for a while and then started on my decor books to look for a fireplace remotely resembling yours. But nothing just right kwim?Your fireplace is quite unusual....But you already knew that didn't ya! Lol! I'll keep looking I promise...and maybe I can find something before next year! Oh and I wish I could meet your Millicent! The stories she could tell! Vanna
Mary Ellen, I love your vignette. And I love your little lamp,I am a lamp nut LOL.
I am so glad you came to visit today, please come again anytime.
HELLO.....oh my gosh..stunning!!! Your vignette is soooo beautiful, and btw thanks for the compliment!!! It means alot!
hi - came on over to answer your question on BooMama - the house tour link won't actually work until the day of the tour which is the 15th - so you have plenty of time to get yourself organised. Last year I just showed one room with about a dozen links to all the rest that I'd been posting all month. You might need to do the same LOL
I forgot......I LOVE your new header!!You have created a beautiful vignette!!
Scrumptious! The rest of your house may be a wreck, but oh my, it was worth it... You have got the touch.
Love your display...it's very sentimental too - the best kind.
Breathtaking...I love the stories I see... :)
Lover your home and your Christmas Decor - you have a great talent!
Paula
